On Saturday, September 6, the very first stage of the brand new LeWeb Startup Tour takes place in Berlin. Seven innovative local entrepreneurs will pitch their companies to investors, entrepreneurs and media. Up for grabs: a chance to pitch in front of the world, at LeWeb Paris’14’s Startup Competition finals. So without further ado, let’s meet some of Germany’s hottest startups!
Cuciniale (top video) is a team of food-loving programmers, mathematicians, food scientists, chefs, engineers, sales and marketing specialists. Their vision is to digitalise the world of cooking. With the help of sensors, their app identifies key food properties — size, weight, fat, water, protein content — and adjusts calorie counts and cooking time accordingly.
Mobile app AirMarkr lets you draw in the air, in 3D, simply by moving your smartphone. AirMarkr allows people to be as expressive as their ideas, inside and outdoors. Ultimately, AirMarkr will collect big data on natural human movement to further develop intuitive UI and UX for motion tracking interfaces.
Blloon is a freemium ebook service. Currently in beta in the UK, it aims to make reading as easy as using Spotify. Users can read their first books for free, from Blloon’s catalogue of almost 1 million titles. More free reading can be earned by inviting friends, sharing books or writing reviews.
Berlin startup elefunds has developed a one-click donation system for cashless payment flows at the point-of-sale of online retailers. Customers round up their shopping grand totals and donate the difference to one or more renowned charities of their choice, such as WWF, Welthungerhilfe or SOS Children’s Villages.
local.app aims to make app downloads and QR codes obsolete: it’s an app that automatically adapts its content to the point of interest, morphing itself into a location-specific ‘local app’. It’s as if you had any venue’s app on your phone, automatically activated upon walk-in. No scanning or downloading required!
Our two other finalists are GetATravelAgent, a platform that brings together travelers and travel agents…
…and Smell, an app that allows you to write messages that belong to the place in which they are written.
Good luck to everyone!
