On Friday, October 3, we were in Paris for the local pitch session of our Startup Tour! From its countless incubators to its many emerging VCs, the City of Lights has an incredible startup scene that we just couldn’t miss. 7 highly promising French startups pitched their projects onstage*, in front of a highly-qualified jury composed of: Véronique Jacq (Bpifrance), Michel de Lempdes (Omnes Capital), Marion Moreau (Frenchweb), and David Schwarz (of Carrefour, global sponsor of the Startup Tour).
The event started with a panel on “New trends, technologies and opportunities in Ecommerce”, moderated by Roxanne Varza (Microsoft France). It featured Nicolas Celier (Alven Capital), Lara Rouyres and Tatiana Jama (co-founder of Selectionnist). Celier’s quote “CEOS should learn to code” created quite a sensation.
Covering a wide array of fields, the 7 startups then pitched onstage: 90 seconds for each entrepreneur, quite a challenge! Our host, HandsOn.TV‘s one and only Rodrigo Barros, kept the event buzzing from start to finish.
This time, our jury chose two winners instead of just one. The startups that join our Worldwide Startup Competition in December are Sublime Skinz and Fitle! (second from right and far right in the below photo)

Thank you to all our participants, speakers, and jury members! Here’s a Flickr album of the event, with Frederic de Villamil‘s great photos:
Last but by no means least, a special tribute to host Rodrigo Barros’ unstoppable energy: LeWeb’s very first Vine!
*Weeleo, the eighth startup selected to pitch in Paris, couldn’t make it due to illness. Get well soon!
See you very soon in Barcelona (November 6) for the last pitch contest of our Startup Tour!
