The 2014 LeWeb Startup Tour came to a close yesterday in Barcelona, with our last pitch session before the Worldwide Competition in December in Paris! 8 very promising young Spanish companies has been selected to present their projects in front of a first-class jury, composed of Susana Tintoré (Barcelona Activa), Javier Larrondo (Digital Assets Deployment), Maxime Taieb (of Carrefour, global sponsor of the Startup Tour), Marilin Gonzalo (Eldiario) and Sebastian Muller (IMPACT, ISDI).

As usual, our Startup Tour host Rodrigo Barros (from HandsOn.TV) created a great atmosphere even before the doors opened (see his tweet and our finalists’ photos below)! Once more, he was accompanied by our very own Benjamin Costantini, who moderated the introduction panels.

Indeed, right before the pitch session, the participants were invited to listen to Ana Maiques (from Neuroelectrics): her fireside chat with Ben on “Neuroscience & Gaming” introduced the audience to one of the most exciting trends of LeWeb 2014: The Future of the Mind, curated by Loic Le Meur himself.

The chat was followed by a panel on panel on “International Growth for Spanish Entrepreneurs”, featuring Javier Larrondo (Digital Assets Deployment), Samuel Martinez (Osborne Clarke) and Jaume Gomà (Ulabox). Then, the 8 startups pitched their projects to the jury: 90 seconds per pitch, not more!

Relive the pitch session with HandsOn.TV‘s video:

The jury chose Trip4real, a community platform that connects locals with travelers from all over the world, enabling local city-dwellers to offer tours & activities. Its founders will join our Worldwide Startup Competition finalists in Paris December! A special jury mention was also given to PlayGiga, a videogame-streaming platform. Bravo!

Thank you to all our participants, speakers, sponsors and jury members – not to mention our incredible host Rodrigo Barros, without whom this Startup Tour wouldn’t have been the same!

And now, see you at LeWeb in a month’s time, for 3 days of pitches, networking, discoveries and much, much more!
